Directed by the late Fukasaku Kinji, international cult hit Battle Royale is one of the most shocking and controversial films of recent years. To counter increasing youth violence, the Japanese government has envoked the Battle Royale Act as a warning to the nation's youth. A high school class is unwillingly drafted into a deadly game of survival. Taken to a remote island, the teenagers are each given one weapon and a deadline - kill each other or be killed. Only the winner can leave the island alive.
