Smart cars in China
Smart’s Fortwo is finally entering into Chinese market. Is that a ’smart’ idea? I’m sure they want to enter into the emerging market like China but can it compete with Shuanghuan Noble? For those of who do not know, Noble is a near perfect replica of the first generation Smart Fortwo, made by a Chinese company and sells for considerably lower than the original. Smart Fortwo will cost around mid $20k while the Noble is around $6500. The ultimate slap in the face of Smart is this…. The Noble’s new slogan is ‘Smarter than the Rest’. So which one of these two company is actually SMART?

These cars have been a hit here in the US for a small time now. Theyre great on gas mileage, and being small it is easy to get around. You have to want one of these cars to own one though.
They are incredibly small, your spare tire is inside the vehicle with you. Another thing that people are having problems with, is the size of the vehicle and the parts used to manufacture it.
Since these vehicles are so small, the materials had to be stronger to survive impacts. When rescue crews have to use the jaws of life, it takes them 8-14 minutes longer! YES 8 to 14 MINUTES LONGER! to get people out of these cars. Typical removal time is around 5-6 minutes for most rescue crews. Could you imagine being stuck inside of one of these for 20 minutes while it is on fire? Because the jaws of life can’t cut through the metals used in manufacturing. This is a terrible flaw.

I think a with such a huge price tag will not be a major hit in China. But the rich will China may buy the cars.

I think these cars will get very popular in this recession time as people do care about money more right now. All the large companies declare bankrupts or bought by smaller ones that produce so called economical cars.

This is a really low price. I love this car because of very low fuel consumption. The slogan is a great and sounds very attractive. Now the people with little money can buy this car.

I think Smart will do good in Chinese market too. Noble can be the perfect replica of Smart but it can be in look not in mechanism. If Smart is expensive then Noble then there will be some good reason behind it. After all it is a popular automobile company.

Smart cars that keep themselves in the proper lane, maintain the correct following distance and sense driver fatigue are so passe.smart car should have smart tires.:-)

Smart Cars in China are a great idea, since it’s so congested on many of the busy roads in China. The car is pretty much a roll cage, so they’re much safer than a motorcycle.
