Those Young Chinese Gymnasts
Jul 30th, 2008 | By andy | Category: MISCTwo female Chinese gymnasts, including a gold-medal favorite, might be too young to participate in the upcoming Beijing Olympics.
Several online records and reports show He Kexin, the host nation’s top competitor on uneven bars, and Jiang Yuyuan might not yet be 16, the minimum age for Olympic eligibility. Both were chosen for China’s team last week.
On the Web site of the Chengdu Sports Bureau - Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province in southwest China - a file dated January 2006 shows He Kexin as being born Jan. 1, 1994.

Just another controversy for Beijing Olympics. For me, most gymnasts look way too young to be competing in the Olympics.

I think Gymnasts are always young because I have seen many of them even younger than that. There should be some exceptions or some different criteria for Gymnastic. I shall be sad not to see them on the biggest event.
I can’t believe it. I have perceived that all those athletes are younger than that age(I am talking about previous Olympics). This is pretty new information for me.
Just cut off a limb and count the rings… Seriously though, I think the severe (and early) training those girls received affected their proper growth and development.
Wow. They DO look young. Too bad there’s no concrete proof, we’d just have to accept the age on THEIR passports
