Korea Bans Sex Offenders
May 15th, 2008 | By andy | Category: MISCApparently, United States started sharing the list of child sex offenders with Korea. Is this great news for Koreans? I guess so but is it good for the offenders who don’t get a second chance? Or do they not even deserve a second chance? What are your thoughts?
South Korea has banned the entry of 21 Americans convicted of sexually abusing children under 14.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security forwarded to the Ministry of Justice a list of 21 American child sex offenders known to travel frequently to Asian countries. The ministry immediately decided to permanently blacklist the offenders from entering Korea.

It is understandable to be blacklisted, but I think it is hard enough trying to start a new life in another country. As strict as I wish sex offenders should have it here in the US, I do not approve…
Maybe they can screen for Asianophiles haha
They should, I mean sex offenders are not supposed to be allowed anywhere..
I feel sorry for them but we can’t do anything if they were banned already…..Is there a cure for pedophiles?..
I don’t see anything wrong. These are child abusers we’re talking about. Also, it’s not like the military troops (that are stationed in Korea and Japan) do enough damage already. Korea is thinking of their citizens; who wouldn’t want to protect their children.
This is great news! Please keep in mind, folks, that a VERY high percentage of Americans (and Canadians) in Korea and other wealthy Asian countries are English teachers.
It’s way too easy to get an English teaching job in Asia, and too often, the bosses often are only concerned with white faces and English ability. I agree that some people deserve a second chance in life, but offenders don’t belong anywhere near a school. It’s glad to see that someone is looking out for the children because the school owners are often too busy worrying about the ‘business’ side of things, counting students, hours, and money.
You are right, they can and should be stopped.
Of course they should do this. And not only in Korea, in every country possible. Just remember that guy who was teaching English in Thailand and had hundreds of photos with children. Who knows have many people like him are doing the same thing. For them, countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia are paradises where there is absolutely no control and they can get away with anything. That is really creepy.
