MySpace Expanding to Korea and India

myspace korea

MySpace Korea? I knew that this was going to happen but still cannot believe it. A world dominated by cyworld, I don’t see how MySpace can thrive in Korea. Then again, Koreans do have the tendency to flock to the next hot thing so why not.

Take a look at http://kr.myspace.com/ Still very ugly if you ask me. They should definitely hire some Korean designer to make it ‘cute’ like cyworld.

Then there’s India. The site is still in English. I have not visited that many Indian websites to know how MySpace’s ugly layout compares to normal Indian websites. However, I am pretty confident that MySpace falls behind in design category. India MySpce is located at http://in.myspace.com

    1. to be honest i think myspace, no matter what the language, is pretty ugly.

    2. It’ll get some users but for sure there’s no conquering the giant that is CyWorld. I’m suprised it took this long to get a Korean version. The one good use I’ve found for MySpace and its Japanese version is finding musicians, perhaps K-MySpace could be good for that ;)

    3. Yeah, they should focus on the places they already dominate before they lose them to places like Facebook. Cyworld in Asia, Orkut in India, there seems like little point to try. If they are, they should at least learn what attracts users to those respective site instead of this fugly design.

There was a neat world map where they showed the dominant social network by color. It was very interesting, but I can’t find it anymore. But here is another attempt (but incomplete compared to the first one I found):

    4. This is a good news for indians…….. but not for me……….coz its still not available in our country :(
      i hope they start soon.

    5. I had a myspace account for like 3 months when it came out. I don’t really like the layout or the limitations. Bootleg!
