Wow. There seems to be so many Korean actors crossing over to the US film industry. I’m not a fan of Daniel but i wish him the best.

    1. Aren’t expats despised or something in Korea? I am surprised at all the roles they are being given in high profile shows. I wonder if the US is in need of better actors or Korea is just that good?

    2. Another X-Men movie? I didn’t really like the last X-Men movie, I’m sure the next one won’t be any better.

    3. AzureWolf, I’m confused. When you say “expats,” are you talking about Koreans living outside of Korea or foreigners living in Korea?

As for Daniel Henney, he’s half Korean-half American, and one of the most popular actors in Korea at the moment. Because of him, Koreans are crazy about people of mixed-race at the moment, and my 2 year-old daughter gets a lot more attention than Korean children the same age.

    4. @James Turnbull:
Oh, I don’t know much about Daniel Henney’s backstory (he may be Asian, but he’s not female, so I don’t care, hehe). Most of the time, when they say “expatriate” it refers to someone who has deserted Korea, usually to gain US citizenship. Seems kind of wrong for the article to call him that if he was always a US citizen.

I mean, if he didn’t ditch his Korean citizenship to avoid military service or something (cause he never had it or something), then I say the article is misleading to call him an expatriate - even if it does have more than one meaning.

      Hope I didn’t offend anyone.

    5. The article states ‘an American expatriate actor in South Korea’. I think the author was trying to say that Daniel is an American actor who deserted America to pursue his acting career in South Korea. But now he is recruited in an American movie as a Korean actor. In this sense, I think he made a great career decision by moving to Korea. He could possibly be a huge star in both continents.

    6. AzureWolf, I wasn’t offended! Just confused. And sorry for not welcoming you to ZR5 earlier!
