Do You Play Tennis?

The last Asian tennis player I remember is Michael Chang. Then after him, I have not heard of any famous Asian tennis player. To be honest, I didn’t follow tennis at all. Anyways, there are numerous Asian players and they are doing exceptionally well.

The photo above is of Yan Zi and Zheng Jie of China. Why do they look so happy? It’s because they have just defeated Serena and Venus Williams. (Asian Tennis Federation)

I used to play tennis when I was young. I even took professional lessons for couple of months. Then I stopped for whatever reason I can’t remember. Do you play tennis and if so how long did you play for?

I started tennis in high school because the JV team would teach you to play. I really enjoyed it and actually it turned into one of my favorite sports. So I haven’t played in a while but once the snow melts I would really like to start up again.

I’m 31 now and have played since I was 10. Only a NTRP 4.5 player and I remember Michael Chang well. He was insanely fast and it seemed you could never get a winner on this guy. He was an inspiration.

How about Paradorn Srichaphan? He hasn’t been playing so well lately (has he played at all?) but he *did* marry Miss Universe 2005 :)

I played tennis and took lessons during my early school years but sadly its something I gave up. Switched between too many sports while I was young and in retrospect I wish I’d continued with tennis. None-the-less I still love to watch tennis. As Steve said Paradorn Srichaphan is a name that should come up when talking about top Asian players. He’s a Thai player who reached a No. 9 World ranking at the height of his career. Pretty amazing stuff :)

yep yep – I’m with Davis Cup Betting. I also played a lot of sport and music in my youth which meant loads of switching. Tennis got the short end of the stick and it would have been great if I gave it more of a chance.
