Rain to Sing Theme for Beijing Olympics
Korean pop idol Rain has been tapped to sing the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.Rain, who is a star across much of Asia, will be the first Korean to sing an Olympic theme song since quartet Koreana sang “Hand in Hand” for the Seoul Olympics in 1988. He was apparently asked to sing the song last year and gladly accepted.

I have never expected this to happen. I have never even thought this was possible. There are so many great singers in China I don’t see why they asked Rain(Bi) to sing the Beijing Olympics theme song. I like him and all but still….

If they wanted Rain at least he is still an Asian, but I agree with you…they should have prioritize a Chinese national…

I agree with sollee, and to add insult to injury, there are much better choices than Rain if they had to go with Korean.
Maybe the choice had to do with universal recognition? Or Speed Racer? hehehe

When he appeared, I was like… “Is that Rain?”
—I seriously couldn’t figure it out. His new hairdo (all for the Beijing Olympics performance) really made me lose track of him; especially that he was around a sea of Asians as well.
