Making money via blog - adsense, pagerank, backlinks, payperpost

May 13th, 2007 | By andy | Category: ZR5 Site News

I guess every blogger goes through blogging-puberty and say to themselves, ‘Why can’t I get paid for spending all these times I post on my blog?’ Can I make enough to make this my full time job?

Well, I certainly went through that period and started my venture with Google Adsense. And just like all the beginners out there, it barely received any clicks. But today, I receive couple of clicks everyday for profit of about 10-30 cents! WOW. By this rate, I might get my first check from Google by end of the year! Ok, with the sarcasms aside, I thought that was better than nothing. I still do, somewhat.

After starting Adsense and earning my ‘cents’ everyday, I got greedy and wanted to make more money. So I signed up with PPP(payperpost). Don’t worry, this isn’t one of their sponsored posts. :) PPP has been great for me so far. Even though my blog is titled ZR5 Asian News, I make posts about almost every different subject possible. That means that I am able to take part in many different types of opportunities on PPP’s website without causing too much headaches for my readers. There are tons of other open opportunities on PPP but I am unable to take them because of my low Google PR, which is currently 2. This is one of the reasons why I decided to concentrate on raising my PR to 3 or 4 during the next Google update. When is that you ask? It’ll probably happen in around 2 to 3 month time.

So, what’s my plan? Ummmm.. I haven’t quite figured it out yet. As far as my understanding of PageRank is concerned, it counts ‘votes’ or links from other sites and give me a ranking based on that. I’m sure it’s much more complicated but that’s my basic understanding of how PR works. So I need to create more links to my site.

How can I achieve this?

1) Submit my site to high PR directories. I’ve started going down my list of directories and submitted my site to around 30-40 different sites. Let me tell you, that actually took couple of hours. I still have hundreds of more to go.

2) Make comments on high ranking blogs and or forums. Of course I wouldn’t just go and say ‘visit my site zr5.net!’ or some other stupid comments. I know enough to contribute to the subject on hand, and then go all out with my advertising. :)
3) Exchange links with other sites or blogs. I can always buy the links but I don’t feel like it. I am going to do a short review of John Chow’s site right after this post as a link exchange. He’s blog is PR6 so a link from his blog will help my pagerank.

4) More words per post. As my usual readers will notice, this post is actually the longest post ever! To be more search engine friendly and to optimize my site a little more, I’ve decided to write much more on every post. This does not mean that I am going to go back to my older posts and add more contents. I think I can achieve what I want if I just start with it today.

5) Etc… There are so many other ways I can increase the number of back links to my sites and I am going to try it all!
